Asking for help has been a constant struggle for me. Especially when I’m able to hide my feelings so well that most wouldn’t know anything is wrong until I’m hospitalized. It’s not that I don’t have supportive people around me, it’s more so I don’t want to be a burden to others (which plays into my mental illness). My moods are episodic so I don’t want others to join the rollercoaster if I’m not a danger to myself or others. It can be exhausting to keep up with and I know because I live with it on a daily basis. But I’m grateful for the ones that even if I need someone to talk to they are there no matter what or time. I’m grateful for the ones where when I just don’t want to be alone, that’s enough for them to spend time with me. Having supportive people around you is crucial to managing your mental health.
