Relationships and Mental Illness

Relationships can be tricky when you are trying to manage a mental illness or love someone with a mental illness. There is educating yourself if you are newly diagnosed, but also educating your partner. There is determining your triggers, but also explaining to your partner how to recognize the signs. There is a constant battle, with loving someone with a mental illness, on trying not to be overbearing and intervening when they are danger to themselves/others. I have dealt with both. There has to constant communication because mental illnesses aren’t linear and anything can change over time. If you have a mental illness or love someone with a mental illness, feel free to share what has worked for you.
